How to repair proportional valves in a short time

Written by Interfluid | Jun 13, 2021 10:00:00 PM

What happens when a proportional valve no longer works as it should? Atos selected a small number of reliable partners to be Service Center, able to inspect, clean, repair and test all components in the Atos product line. Interfluid is an Official Atos service center.

Haste doesn't lend to good decisions, but often times a quick solution is essential to restart production that has stopped due to a breakdown.

The digital technology of hydraulic components currently on the market has made it possible to obtain a series of advantages, not least of which is advanced diagnostics in line with Industry 4.0, which allows the optimisation of production efficiency of machinery, and making them ready for predictive maintenance processes.

It is no longer a dream to be able to remotely set the operation of components and monitor the progress of machinery in order to anticipate problems and reduce downtime.

But what happens when the dreaded breakdown happens?

When a breakdown occurs, it is not always easy to understand its cause. With time as a key factor, it is essential to find a quick solution to restart the machine as soon as possible, potentially without exorbitant costs. This is why it is essential to find someone who can help find a solution to the problem as well as the necessary spare parts. In these cases, being able to rely on a single company for both needs is an indisputable advantage.

Assistance on hydraulic valves and electrovalves

For electrohydraulics, Atos offers a wide range of valves completely based on digital technology, and has chosen to select a small number of reliable partners, recognised Atos Service Centres, which are able to sell, provide specific advice and repair proportional valves.

Being an Atos Service Centre means always being updated on technological developments, thanks to constant dialogue with Atos technicians and training courses scheduled for each major modification of the product catalogue.

Thanks to these partners, it is possible to reduce the time factor in two ways:

  • buy a new valve to immediately replace the damaged one,
  • and in the meantime have the old one inspected and repaired for future need.

In Italy, Atos relies on Interfluid, the recognized Atos Service Centre, to inspect, recondition, test and repair all components in the Atos range, including those under warranty.

Thanks to the years of collaboration with Atos and results obtained with digital technology, we can replace any proportional valve of a different brand with an Atos valve, taking advantage of their extensive interchangeability with major brands such as Parker, Rexroth, and Vickers, to name a few.

Interfluid technicians are able to support hydraulic maintenance technicians even if proportional valves with fieldbus interface and/or custom calibrations are installed on the machine. Often it is not easy to understand which valve can serve as a replacement, or the specific technical skills are not present to be able to replace it, or even just to understand what kind of customisation is present.

Our technicians can do it for you, and provide you with the tools and/or verification and calibration with dedicated software.

Sustainable hydraulics

Relying on a partner who knows how to handle proportional valves also has the non-negligible advantage of reducing the impact of components on the environment. Being able to repair a damaged component that is still usable instead of replacing it with a new one, or in any case repairing it for a possible future need, reduces the amount of waste produced.

What until a few years ago was a requirement of only a few enlightened entrepreneurs who believed in sustainability is now a necessity for all companies, which find themselves having to adapt to the guidelines written in the Green Deal. In fact, the document drawn up by the European Community aims to promote the efficient use of resources by moving to a circular economy and marks the path that Europe, and consequently also industry, will have to follow between now and 2050 to achieve climate neutrality.

Furthermore, the life of the hydraulic components can be very long, especially if we make a comparison with sectors that "age" rapidly, such as electronics. But being durable can turn into obsolete, and therefore difficult to replace at the time of a breakdown. This is why Atos service centers such as Interfluid can be a valid aid to give new life to hydraulic components with a history, which need to be repaired.
